Dr. David Coen is Reader in Public Policy and Director of the MSc in Public Policy and PhD program in the School of Public Policy at University College London. Prior to joining UCL he held appointments at the London Business School (1997-2001) and Max Planck Institute in Cologne (1996-1997). His PhD on business lobbying in the EU was awarded a distinction at the European University Institute in Florence in 1996. In recent years he has been a visiting scholar at the Centre for European Studies at Harvard University, Boston University, Nuffield College Oxford University, and Max Planck Institute, Bonn and teaches the MPA on EU Policy-Making at the Warwick Business School. Recent publications include EU Lobbying: Theoretical and Empirical Developments (Routledge, 2007); Lobbying the European Union: Institutions, Actors and Policy (Oxford University Press 2007); "Empirical Observations and Discussions in Interest Representation in Europe" (Journal of European Public Policy, 2007); "Business-Regulatory Relations: Learning to Play Regulatory Games in European Utility Markets" (Governance, 2005).
