The seminar title is that of Professor Meyer's recent book, co-authored
with Janet Gornick. The book examines work-family reconciliation policies
in Europe and seeks to draw lessons from them for the U.S. The authors
take a close look at family work policies in the United States and abroad
and call for a new and expanded role for the U.S. government to bring
this country up to the standards taken for granted in many other Western
nations.
